Special finds & the Collection log
Every gathering and crafting skill can hand you something rare while you work it: amber out of an old tree, a ship's figurehead on a harpoon line, a salamander out of the flames. The moment one appears it is recorded forever in your Collection log, the book-tab on the side panel, and what you do with the item afterwards is your business.
Curios
Rolled on successful gathers and crafts, gated by the tier of the node or recipe, never by luckier gear. Most are salvage: bring them to Bodkin at ElderHeart and he restores them into house pieces nothing else can buy.

Geodes
Mining's lockboxes. Rock veins occasionally spill a Rough geode (any vein) or a Glimmering geode (Mining tier 30 veins and up). Crack one with any hammer, anywhere: it pays Mining XP, spills ore or coins, and sometimes holds one of the three crystals.

Whittling
A Whittling knife from Mabel's General Store plus any logs is Woodcutting practice anywhere you happen to sit down. Each log becomes a little carved figurine from that wood's set; every figurine is a log page, a keepsake you can trade, and a shelf-sized house miniature Bodkin will mount for a few coins.
Messages in bottles
Any water can fish one up. Uncork it for a note worth reading once, 30 to 500 coins, and the log page the first time. Nobody has ever caught the person who keeps throwing them in.
Seeds
