Scenery & landmarks
The realm keeps 20 of these: sealed Vessarim vaults, flood-notched gauge stones, and battle standards still on their field. None of them will talk back, but every one has something to tell you.
| Landmark | Where | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Fallen Standard (Company of the Osprey) | Castle Draven | The Osprey standard, weathered to bare wood, still upright over the ranks that fell facing it. A strongbox sits at its foot. |
| Fallen Standard (Greyhold Second Levy) | Castle Draven | The standard of the Greyhold Second Levy, broken at the haft, its cloth long gone. A shield lies face down beside it, something pale tucked under the rim. |
| Fallen Standard (the Duke's Own) | Castle Draven | The standard of the Duke's Own, still standing proud where its bearers died in ranks. A field-journal lies open on the grass beneath it. |
| North Gauge Stone | Farmlands | A weathered gauge stone on the west bank, notched by old floods. The river runs strong and southward past it. |
| Middle Gauge Stone | Southreach | The middle gauge stone. The river pours past it, full and unhurried, heading down toward the Heights. |
| South Gauge Stone | Southreach | The south gauge stone, last before the rim. Below it the ground steepens toward the Vale Heights. |
| The Inflow | The Vale Heights | Here the river reaches the Vale Heights and goes down into the ground, and does not come out anywhere. |
| Old Harbor Stones | Lake Elder | A drowned quay's foundations, high and dry on the hillside above little Lake Elder, pointing at nothing. |
| Lake Elder Shore | Lake Elder | The shore of Lake Elder: a modest, pretty lake with an enormous old name. The locals think the name is a joke. |
| Collapsed Toll-house | Thornwall | A toll-house, collapsed and ash-choked, on the old Ravensmarch road that once led somewhere. |
| Steam Vent | Mount Cindral | A vent on the Pyre's flank, pouring steam into the air day and night, in a burn with no water for four hundred years. |
| The First Vault | Vessa | A sealed vault, its face covered edge to edge in the Vessarim script. Read it, and it answers. |
| Vault of the First Sighting | Goldstrand | A Vessarim vault on the coast road, its face carved edge to edge in their script. The mark set into the seam is a single long line with one point above it: a horizon, and something on it. |
| Vault of the Embassy | Auremont | A Vessarim vault high on the spine, script from lintel to floor. Nine small marks are cut into the seam in three rows of three, and someone has worn them smooth with touching. |
| Vault of the War | Lanternwatch | A Vessarim vault at the bottom of the shaft, its script unweathered down here. Two marks cross over the seam. Whoever cut them cut deep. |
| Vault of the Bargain | The Hollowvale | A Vessarim vault in the snow, the script still sharp under the frost. The mark on the seam is two shapes of unequal size with a gap left between them. |
| Vault of the Flight | Lanternwatch | A Vessarim vault beneath their last city, script running unbroken around the frame. The mark on the seam is a chevron, pointing away from the door. |
| The Zenith Stone | The Hollowvale | A flat black obelisk at the dead centre of the Hollowvale, worn smooth as glass. Something enormous happened on this spot once. |
| The Rim-Script | The Vale Heights | Old marks cut a hand deep into the rim-stone. Pilgrims call them a binding-ward and leave offerings at their foot. |
| The Sealed Floor | Coronmar | The stairhead down to the Coronmar Archive sealed floor, where the records of the old crowns are kept. |
