Equipment

Gear climbs 10 tiers, and each tier needs the matching level: Attack for melee weapons, Defence for plate, Range for bows and hide, Magic for staves and robes. Above the shop tiers, everything is earned.

The tier ladder

Shops stock the lower half. Shadow gear comes from shadow knights, draconite from dragons, ancient gear from the Old Keep's guardians, and Keeper's gear from the The Old Keep Revenant and the frozen deep.

The three Ultimates

Level 99 weapons, one per style, and each answers the question of how to fight forever in its own way.

The three level 99 sets

One full set per combat style, cut from the realm's three hardest corners.

Scorched, the melee set

Beaten from the carapace of The Ember. The heaviest plate in the realm.

Hoarfrost, the ranged set

Cut from the rime The Freeze wore instead of skin. Trades plate for the accuracy a bow lives on.

Fabled, the magic set

What the builders of the dead cities wore. Opened from Fabled chests in the Fabled Depths with Fabled keys.

Boss uniques & relics

Named drops from bosses and the great landmarks, each with a niche the tier ladder cannot fill.

The six Masterworks

The combat skills are not the only ones with a summit. Each gathering and crafting skill has one crowning tool at level 85, sold by Gilda Truesteel at her stall in Coronmar: double logs, double ore, two fish a strike, twin bars from every smelt, dishes that never burn and come with seconds, and fires that outlast the night. See Special finds for the rest of what the skills hand out.

Capes

The back slot is deliberately thin: a starter cloak, one cape per fighting style, an all-round mantle, and the prestige backs off the realm's hardest kills.
